Description
The Twinning action within Horizon Europe aims to sustainably strengthen research and innovation capacities in Widening countries. With a funding volume between €800,000 and €1,500,000 for a project duration of up to 36 months, networking activities between at least three independent institutions from different EU and Associated countries are supported. Through individual work packages and targeted workshops and trainings as well as short-term staff exchanges and expert visits, excellence is enhanced and the mobility of young researchers intensified. An integrated research component of up to 30% of the total costs allows the incorporation of innovative methods and technologies. Project-accompanying support by leading institutes ensures the strategic development of joint research programs and supports the establishment of professional management structures in line with modern research management.
The funding, with a coverage rate of 100%, is designed for research institutions and universities in Widening countries as well as their scientific staff and young researchers. A prerequisite is consortium leadership by a legal entity in a Widening country and the participation of institutions from at least three countries of the EU or associated states. Personnel costs, travel and subsistence expenses, material costs as well as expenses for workshops, trainings, and networking activities are covered, while commercial production and investment costs in production facilities are excluded. Evaluation is based on the level of innovation, consortium structure, and sustainable impact on the research profile. With the deadline on 09.04.2026, interested institutions have the opportunity to expand their international network and decisively professionalize their research competencies.
