Bridging Assistance for Students – Freemasons Helping Foundation

The Freemasons Help Foundation was established in 1972 and maintains a special support fund for students of all universities in the state of Bremen. In cases of acute financial hardship, the foundation grants one-time bridging aid to overcome unforeseen bottlenecks and enable the continuation of studies. Eligible for funding are private individuals with a valid enrollment at a university in the state of Bremen as well as proof of an acute financial emergency. The grants are provided as subsidies that leave the foundation’s capital untouched and are only disbursed from the fund’s earnings. By 2017, over 140 students had already been supported with a total of around €124,000.

Applications for funds can be submitted continuously and are made via the completed application form, which must be submitted together with proof of the emergency. Once approved, the amount is paid out promptly to provide quick relief to the students. Through the open deadline policy and the straightforward process, the foundation aims to minimize barriers in the application procedure. The ongoing support makes an important contribution to enabling learners to continue their academic education uninterrupted despite unforeseen difficulties.
