Description
Within the framework of accident insurance in Vienna, transitional allowance provides financial security during professional or medical rehabilitation measures. Private individuals insured who undergo a professional training financed by the accident insurance provider or – in the case of agricultural workers – a medical rehabilitation measure receive a benefit amounting to 60% of the relevant assessment base. Eligible dependents benefit from an increase of 10% for partners or spouses and 5% for other relatives, without the total amount exceeding the assessment base. The funding falls under the thematic areas of Social Affairs, Health, and Work & Social Affairs and is granted as a subsidy. Applications can be submitted continuously, with no fixed deadlines.
A prerequisite for receiving the allowance is a professional rehabilitation measure financed by the accident insurance provider or, for farmers, a medical measure, as well as the consideration of additional income on the transitional allowance. The benefit is granted according to the General Social Insurance Act (§ 199 ASVG) and the Farmers’ Social Insurance Act (§ 156 BSVG). With a funding rate of 60%, the program contributes to securing social and economic stability during the recovery and qualification phase. The Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, Section II, is responsible for information and administrative processing. Interested parties can obtain information on the basis and details of the benefit provision at any time if needed.
