Ulrike Kögler Scholarship for Sports

The Ulrike Kögler Scholarship for Sports supports talented students and prospective students in East Westphalia-Lippe who demonstrate outstanding athletic achievements and are simultaneously facing financial or personal hardship. Up to two scholarships are awarded annually, each with funding of up to €3,600. Eligible applicants include first-time university students at institutions in OWL as well as high school graduates and prospective students intending to begin their studies soon. Requirements include enrollment or imminent enrollment at an OWL university, at least satisfactory academic performance, and proof of exceptional athletic qualifications—supplemented by documents regarding personal and family circumstances as well as income statements from the past three months. Since applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, suitable candidates may submit their documents at any time.

The selection process considers academic and athletic achievements as well as extracurricular engagement and special personal circumstances. After verifying formal requirements, a foundation advisory board decides based on these criteria who will be invited to an interview, which concludes the selection procedure. The program aims to support young sports talents in East Westphalia-Lippe especially when financial barriers or personal difficulties threaten their studies. Through the Ulrike Kögler Scholarship, the Talentengel Ulrike and Wolfgang Kögler Foundation places a focus on supporting committed athletes, thereby laying the foundation for sustainable academic and athletic development.
