Description
The investment program supports the conversion, installation, and retrofitting of heating systems in Viennese apartments to highly efficient, alternative energy systems and grants a one-time subsidy amounting to 35% of the verified and reasonable costs. Funding is provided for connections to district heating, heat pump heating systems, biomass systems, or comprehensive floor heating with alternative energy sources. Applications can be submitted at any time since May 1, 2021, with no limit on the funding volume. Tenants as well as owners of apartments in Vienna are eligible, provided the renovated unit serves as the main residence (for district heating connections, secondary residences are also eligible). Own labor and pure material costs, however, are not considered.
A prerequisite for the application is a current cost estimate and a corresponding invoice, the date of which must not be older than six months. For rental properties, a consent declaration from the property owners is required; for municipal housing, the approval of Wiener Wohnen is necessary; owners of condominiums must submit an excerpt from the land register as proof. The aim of the subsidy is to increase energy efficiency, reduce CO₂ emissions, and modernize the housing stock. For interested private individuals, this program offers reliable financial support to switch heating solutions to future-proof, environmentally friendly technologies. Further details are available through the housing subsidy office of the City of Vienna.
