Description
The Eco-Action Plan Hesse 2020–2025 consistently focuses on promoting ecological production and regional value creation. Agricultural enterprises, research institutions, municipalities, and non-profit organizations can continuously apply for grants for individual projects. Funding is provided for measures related to organic farming, knowledge transfer, investments in demonstration projects, innovations, as well as the processing and marketing of regional products. A prerequisite is the location within the funding area of Hesse, compliance with earmarking periods, and application submission prior to project commencement. Personnel costs, material expenses, and investments are considered eligible for funding. Projects are evaluated primarily based on sustainability aspects, regional added value, and degree of innovation. Approval is granted on a project basis by the Regional Council of Gießen within subprograms such as conversion premiums or organic model regions. Funding amounts are tiered depending on the measure, for example up to €3,000 premium for participation in organic certification and up to €100,000 for demonstration projects.
The state of Hesse thus aims for sustainable regional development and climate protection, strengthens ecological production methods, and contributes to biodiversity. Interested cooperation networks, agricultural cooperatives, and start-ups benefit from flexible investment grants and marketing support. Accompanying advisory and qualification measures ensure effective knowledge transfer. The continuous application process enables tailored program implementation – from conversion to organic farming through training, further education, and research to regional sales promotion. The measure supports the development of stable, future-proof value chains “from Hesse for Hesse” and acts as a catalyst for innovations in climate-friendly agriculture and environmental protection.
