Description

As part of environmental funding in the areas of environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, and energy efficiency, the program supports investigations and measures at contaminated sites and historic waste deposits in the federal state of Vienna. Its objective is to achieve a lasting improvement of the environmental condition, minimize usage restrictions caused by contamination, and activate fallow land through reintegration into the economic cycle. Eligible costs include preliminary work such as exploratory measures, construction and implementation measures, ongoing operating costs, compensations, as well as restoration and evidence preservation measures. Grants cover between 50% and 75% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum amount of €300,000 per project. The maximum project duration is 24 months. Applications can be submitted from 01.01.2025 onwards and, until further notice, without a fixed deadline.

Eligible applicants include private and public actors such as owners and authorized holders of properties with designated contaminated sites or historic waste deposits, municipalities, municipal associations, waste associations, federal states, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A prerequisite for funding is the publication of the contaminated site or historic waste deposit in accordance with § 18 para. 4 ALSAG on altlasten.gv.at and the submission of the application prior to the commencement of measures. Ineligible are contaminations occurring after 01.07.1989, pure consulting services, public relations, insurance premiums, court and notary fees, administrative charges, and taxes. Evaluation is based on ecological improvement objectives, cost-effectiveness, state of the art, and risk minimization. For application submission, a variant analysis, description of measures, cost estimate, financing concept, proof of owner consent, and the forms of the processing office are required. The selection process considers the achievement of environmental improvement goals, cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit ratio, state of the art, as well as risks to humans and the environment.
