Description
The city of Graz promotes the ecological redesign of urban spaces in the state of Styria through the unsealing of sealed soil surfaces. The aim is to convert impermeable areas into permeable green or gravel lawn surfaces, thereby contributing to climate and environmental protection. Private individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions can apply for a grant of up to €15,000. Funding is provided at €50 per square meter, provided the measure is applied for between 01.01.2025 and 31.12.2026 and the funding requirements are met.
A prerequisite for an application is an unsealing area of at least 20 m² without endangering soil or groundwater. Repeated sealing within ten years will result in the repayment of funds. Eligible costs are exclusively the construction costs for grass pavers (at least 30% perforation), grass surfaces, or gravel lawns. In addition to the fully completed application form, consolidated invoices (not older than three months), information on soil structure and drainage, photo documentation (before/after), as well as proof of disposal rights must be submitted. The funded areas must be used in the approved form for at least ten years.
