Description
The Urban Tree Promotion of the City of Graz supports the ecological and climate-friendly design of the urban area through the planting of soil-bound urban trees on private properties in Graz. Eligible for funding are private individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with residential properties within the city area. Under this measure, 50% of the eligible costs up to a maximum of €700 per tree are covered. Funded are material costs for the tree sapling, soil, support materials, and ground cover, as well as transport and planting costs by professional companies. Funding can be applied for up to ten urban trees per location. The funding period extends from 01/01/2025 to 12/31/2026 and applies exclusively to voluntary new plantings outside the Graz green belt.
To qualify for funding, the species and location must comply with the specifications of the tree species list, the trunk circumference must be at least 16 cm (or 8 cm for fruit trees), and proper establishment care must be ensured. Own contributions are excluded, as are mandatory replacement plantings under the tree protection ordinance. The application must be submitted via the digital form and requires, in addition to the fully completed application form, photographic documentation, a simple site plan, information on tree species, trunk circumference, and care, as well as proof of disposal rights over the property and consolidated invoices not older than three months. Application and invoice deadlines end on 12/31/2026; invoices may be dated no earlier than 01/01/2025.
