Description
The BWPLUS program supports application-oriented environmental research in Baden-Württemberg and is aimed at companies, educational institutions, public and other organizations. The funding areas of Research & Innovation, Environmental/Nature Conservation, as well as Energy Efficiency & Climate Protection focus on sustainable bioeconomy, renewable energies, resource efficiency, and circular economy. These priorities are complemented by sustainable digitalization, the preservation of the environment and ecosystems, the heat transition, as well as the hydrogen economy and research. The goal is to develop scientifically sound foundations for environmental policy decisions and practical methods to secure ecological livelihoods that directly address the concerns of Baden-Württemberg.
Eligible to apply are scientific research institutions as well as collaborative projects involving at least one company from the commercial sector, municipalities, or other legally competent partners. Projects with innovative solution approaches, high scientific and technical quality, and proven transferability are funded. For collaborative projects, a coordinator must be appointed, and the presentation of results at colloquia and seminars is expected. The grant rate ranges from 50 to 100 percent of eligible costs depending on the actor; the maximum project duration is 36 months. Evaluation criteria include the level of innovation, broad impact, and relevance to Baden-Württemberg. Applications are submitted in two stages within the framework of regular calls for proposals at the Karlsruhe project management agency (PTKA); exact deadlines are available on their website.
