Description

The Environmental Foundation of the NatureFriends Rhineland-Palatinate supports ecologically oriented projects that serve the environmentally appropriate adaptation of NatureFriends houses, family and hiking hostels within the Rhineland-Palatinate area of influence. The goal is the protection and maintenance of valuable biotopes as well as the conveyance of natural history and ecological content. With a view to sustainable development, measures to increase energy efficiency, landscape conservation, and environmental education work are particularly supported. Seminars, conferences, and training sessions on nature conservation work are the focus, aiming to strengthen the professional expertise of participants in the long term. Funding is provided continuously in the form of grants and does not require a fixed application deadline; projects can be submitted at any time. Only non-profit associations and organizations based and active in Rhineland-Palatinate are eligible to apply.

Eligible expenses include structural adaptations to existing buildings, maintenance measures in natural habitats, as well as conceptual and practical environmental education offerings. In the evaluation, ecological orientation, sustainability, and relevance to landscape conservation play a role, as does the quality of the educational work. Applicants should demonstrate how the planned projects serve the goal of preserving habitats in the long term and raising public awareness of environmental issues. Through targeted support of non-profit organizations, a network of committed actors is created that advocates for greater biodiversity and climate-friendly construction in Rhineland-Palatinate. Interested associations and initiatives thus receive a financial basis to realize models for an environmentally appropriate future.
