Description

The Greenpeace Environmental Foundation offers non-profit organizations throughout Germany a continuous opportunity for seed funding and implementation of environmental, nature, and peace protection projects. With the returns from its capital, it supports both one-time initiatives and multi-year projects situated within one of the five thematic funds: peace work and research, forest & biotope protection, marine conservation, biodiversity, as well as climate protection and environmental technology. As a grant provider, the foundation reimburses both material and personnel costs and promotes models that promise long-term impact. The flexible funding structure, without a maximum duration and with ongoing submissions, allows project-related ideas to be submitted at any time and further developed in coordination with the foundation.

Only legally recognized non-profit entities such as associations, foundations, or public sponsors that present feasible projects with sound planning and strategic concepts are funded. Selection is based on formal requirements, content quality, and a balanced distribution across the thematic funds. Since the annual funds are limited, project diversity is also considered to ensure an appropriate funding rate. Interested organizations submit their project idea in a standardized manner via an online procedure and subsequently work together with the foundation on a detailed funding application. A multi-stage approval process ensures transparency and planning security from application submission to final report. In this way, the Greenpeace Environmental Foundation contributes to sustainably strengthening local and international actors in climate and environmental protection.
