Description
The EU-funded research program “Understanding capital market dynamics for increased investment in New European Bauhaus projects in neighbourhoods” promotes innovative financing and business models to revitalize and structurally transform districts in at least three EU Member States or associated countries. Targeted are public institutions, companies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, as well as municipalities, researchers, and investors who wish to utilize or further develop place-based impact investing approaches. The initiative under Horizon Europe supports research and innovation projects with a funding amount of up to €3.5 million per project, at a funding rate of 100%, and a duration until 01.12.2026. Eligible expenses include personnel and material costs, travel expenses, subcontractor services, as well as events and analyses. Non-eligible are retroactive costs, construction and real estate investments, and debt refinancing. An interdisciplinary consortium of at least three partners, registered in the Horizon Europe Participant Register and with proven expertise in capital market and impact investing research, is a prerequisite for a successful application.
The program aims to identify barriers and drivers of capital supply and demand and to develop scenarios for innovative investment solutions that strengthen the ecological, social, cultural, and aesthetic values of districts. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, sustainability aspects, socioeconomic impact, relevance to target groups, and experience in capital market dynamics. Applications must include a project description, financing plan, CVs of key personnel, evidence of previous work, and partner mandates. The submission deadline is 01.12.2026, 17:00 CET. The projects contribute to Smart Cities & Regions, regional development, digitalization, as well as social cohesion and enhance competitiveness and quality of life in line with the New European Bauhaus.
