In Vorarlberg, a 100% subsidy scheme is available that covers the difference between the actual accommodation and catering costs in inpatient care facilities and the individual's own financial resources. Eligible for funding are needy persons residing and permanently staying in Vorarlberg who are entitled to federal care allowance from level 4 onwards and whose income and assets are insufficient to cover the nursing home costs. The entitlement to benefits arises upon proven financial and factual need when, after involving case management, a residual burden remains despite the full use of own resources (pension, care allowance, rental income, etc.). Applications can be submitted continuously to the responsible municipal or district authority, and processing is usually prompt and straightforward.

Funding Requirements and Necessary Documents
A lawful, uninterrupted residence in Austria of at least five years as well as the main residence in Vorarlberg are prerequisites. As part of the application, proof of income (pension, maintenance, rental income), the care allowance decision, and evidence of real estate (e.g., land register excerpt, gift contracts) must be submitted. The benefit is granted as a subsidy and exclusively covers accommodation and catering costs in nursing homes. Since the funding is unlimited in duration and covers 100% of the difference amount, it is particularly aimed at elderly, care-dependent persons affected by income gaps. The state of Vorarlberg thus provides sustainable support to make longer nursing home stays financially feasible and to ensure that those affected receive professional care in a familiar environment.
