Funding objective
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg supports companies with business premises in Hamburg in investments aimed at the efficient use of resources (energy, water, raw materials) as well as the sustainable reduction of CO₂ emissions, in order to achieve additional environmental relief beyond legal requirements.

Description
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg supports commercially active companies of all sizes with the funding program "Companies for Resource Protection" that voluntarily invest in energy, material, and water efficiency as well as CO₂ reduction at their location in Hamburg. The goal is a measurable environmental relief that goes beyond existing legal requirements. Investment costs are subsidized with a grant of up to 50% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of €1 million per project (up to €100,000 for Efficiency Checks). Applications can be submitted continuously before the start of the project to the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank, allowing planning and implementation processes to be flexibly coordinated.
Eligible measures include, among others, the optimization of energy-efficient production and building technology, projects to reduce material and water consumption, feasibility studies ("Efficiency Checks"), as well as the use of unavoidable waste heat and technologies for the decarbonization of industrial processes. Selection is based on the achieved resource savings, company size, and an economic-technical evaluation of the project. Essential prerequisites are business operations in Hamburg, proper management, and compliance with a three-year binding period for funded equipment. Excluded are companies in fisheries, aquaculture, as well as primary production and processing of agricultural products within the meaning of the De-minimis Regulation. This grant program offers companies an attractive opportunity to actively advance sustainability and climate protection while realizing economic benefits.
