Description
In Vienna, animal owners have access to continuous financial support for losses of cattle and horses due to anthrax or malignant edema. The aim of the funding is to reimburse up to 50% of the fair value of deceased animals as determined by an appraisal commission in accordance with § 51 of the Animal Epidemic Act. Eligible applicants include both private individuals and businesses that keep cattle or horses and have animals affected by anthrax or malignant edema. Through this funding, the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection contributes to ensuring animal welfare, animal protection, and ultimately the safety of the food chain, as well as protecting consumers from health risks.
Payments are made in the form of a grant covering up to half of the assessed value. A prerequisite for funding is the official confirmation of death due to anthrax or malignant edema and the unchanged valuation of the animals without consideration of epidemic-related depreciation. Furthermore, no free, publicly funded vaccinations against the aforementioned animal diseases must have been used. Applications can be submitted in Vienna at any time, as the funding period is unlimited. Interested owners should contact Section III – Group B of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Vienna to submit the required documents and ensure prompt reimbursement.
