Description
The KLEINE PLÄTZE Foundation supports independent neighborhood initiatives in Berlin that are committed to the beautification and preservation of public green spaces. Through professional and organizational advice, contacts with the green space authorities are established and fundraising efforts coordinated to develop sustainable planting and maintenance concepts. In selected cases, the foundation provides financial grants to enable projects to be realized from the conceptual phase through to long-term care. The funding spectrum ranges from environmental and nature conservation to urban development, civic engagement, and climate protection.
Particularly interested are resident groups and associations that independently design green spaces and are willing to take responsibility for their long-term maintenance. A prerequisite for funding is the location of the project in Berlin, a convincing maintenance concept, and the involvement of neighbors. Evaluation criteria include the social added value in the neighborhood, the sustainability of the design, and the active participation of residents. Applications can be submitted at any time; the review process is ongoing. This fosters a vibrant neighborhood culture that makes urban greenery a shared experience.
