Description

Since November 30, 2012, the funding measure has indefinitely covered the full reimbursement of expenses for tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) vaccinations for uninsured individuals residing in Austria, provided these vaccinations are administered in Vienna. The objective is to ensure equal access to health prevention through 100 percent cost coverage and to optimize individual protection against early summer meningoencephalitis transmitted by ticks. The financial support is granted within the framework of the legal provisions pursuant to § 132c para. 6 ASVG in conjunction with § 132b para. 6 ASVG and is aimed at private individuals who, due to their uninsured status, are entitled to claim reimbursement of their vaccination costs from the health insurance carriers.

To apply, proof of Austrian residence as well as confirmation of uninsured status according to the aforementioned ASVG paragraphs is sufficient. Submission of invoices and vaccination records is made directly to the responsible health insurance carriers, who then process the reimbursement. This straightforward subsidy scheme makes an important contribution to public health protection and strengthens the prevention chain during high-risk summer months. Interested persons can find all relevant funding criteria and procedural instructions at Section VII of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. Timely application ensures that vaccination gaps are quickly closed and health risks from TBE are minimized.
