Description

The VDI-Joachim-Herz-Technology Fund supports practice-oriented technology projects nationwide at general education schools, recognized educational initiatives, and extracurricular learning locations. In cooperation with the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the Joachim Herz Foundation provides grants of up to €3,000 once a year. The funds can be used flexibly for initiatives implemented in lessons or project-based workshops that enable hands-on access to technology, robotics, 3D printing, or aerodynamic experiments. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing interested parties to present their project ideas independently of fixed deadlines. The fund is particularly aimed at institutions that seek to strengthen technical general education and inspire students’ enthusiasm for STEM subjects.

Supported are concepts with direct practical relevance that address technical questions and problems in an interdisciplinary manner. Participating institutions must meet the requirements of a general education school or a recognized learning site and ensure that projects take place during or outside of lessons. An awarding committee promptly decides on the approval of financial support. The program aims to inspire young people for technology, expand technical competencies, and provide early impulses for career orientation in the STEM field. Through the straightforward application process via VDI e. V., creative educational initiatives can be quickly realized, creating learning spaces for innovative experimentation.
