Description

Since 1537, the Dirck Koster Testament Foundation has been supporting housing options for needy retirees in Hamburg by maintaining a senior residential complex in Hamburg-Eidelstedt. Situated on a generously greened area with barrier-free access and an elevator, a total of 56 age-appropriate one- and two-room apartments, some with balconies, are available. Common rooms on each floor, a tea pavilion by the goldfish pond, and benches in the park invite residents to linger. The residents enjoy a fair cold rent, which is covered exclusively by the foundation’s endowment income and is not intended to generate profit. Through ongoing maintenance and occasional donations, the complex remains attractive and competitive in the socially responsible senior housing segment in the long term.

Funding is provided to private individuals with their main residence in Hamburg who have reached the age of 60 and whose financial situation is classified as needy or lower-middle income (at least two-thirds of the residents must meet this requirement). An application for admission can be submitted at any time using the standardized admission form to the foundation. Allocation is based on demonstrated need. As this is a charitable institution, profit extraction is waived to ensure that rental prices remain permanently affordable. Interested Hamburg residents aged 60 and over who are seeking affordable, senior-appropriate housing can complete the application and submit it in person to the foundation to become part of this vibrant community in the southern part of the Eidelstedt district.
