Description
Within the framework of the Film Funding Act 2025, the FFA Film Funding Agency nationwide supports media services for the promotion of German feature films. Funding is provided for advertising slots on television, radio, and online with VoD providers to strengthen the release of feature-length films (≥79 minutes, children’s films ≥59 minutes). Eligible to apply are regularly active distribution companies classified as small and medium-sized enterprises, which have distributed at least two films within the last 12 months prior to application, each with a premiere of at least 35 copies (for documentary, talent, and children’s films ≥15 copies). Funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and is based on categories with graduated media volumes for private and public broadcasters.
Submissions are made digitally via the FFA service portal before the official cinema release and follow the submission deadlines set by the FFA. Required documents for the application include, among others, a cover letter, logline/synopsis, financing plan, budget calculation, marketing and media concept, distribution contract, declaration of compliance with blackout periods, and a viewing link to the film. Incomplete applications received by the deadline will not be considered. The FFA provides information on internal volume allocations and meeting dates for 2025/2026. This program offers distribution companies the opportunity to effectively position their films within the national media landscape and to sustainably promote German film culture.
