Description

The EU initiative supports the conception and development of video games as well as interactive, immersive content with high innovation and commercial potential. The goal is to strengthen the capacities of European developers, XR studios, and audiovisual production companies, thereby increasing competitiveness at both national and international levels. Funding is provided for prototypes and pilot developments of original projects – such as games, virtual or augmented reality experiences – intended for global distribution across PCs, consoles, tablets, and other platforms. Applications are submitted via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal; essential requirements include being based in an EU member state and demonstrating financial and operational capacity. Applications are accepted until 11 February 2026, 17:00 (Brussels time), and the funding is granted in the form of a non-repayable grant.

Eligible expenses covered include personnel and development costs, material and travel expenses. Real estate acquisitions or retrospective costs are excluded. The selection process evaluates the degree of innovation, market potential, quality of project planning, as well as strategies for sustainability, equality, and diversity. Participating companies also gain access to best practices and networking opportunities within the European creative sector. Through targeted support, original content with cross-border potential is to be created, retaining intellectual property in Europe and thus sustainably strengthening the position of European market players.
