Description

The initiative supports associations, comparable institutions, and individuals in the Vienna area in the realization of annual programs and individual projects in the field of video and media art. As partial funding, it promotes artistic endeavors that would not be feasible or fully realizable without public funds, thereby contributing to the cultural diversity of the city. The ongoing application possibility allows for flexible planning: applications can be submitted year-round but should be received by the responsible federal ministry at least three months before the project start. Through financial grants, innovative cinematic, interactive, and digital formats in exhibitions, festivals, or curatorial projects are strengthened, and the visibility of local actors is increased.

Applicants must provide proof of Austrian citizenship or permanent residence in Austria and contribute an economic input according to their capacity. Furthermore, it must be demonstrated that the project is not fully realizable without this funding. For registration, the general application form as well as the form for scholarships, acquisitions, and studios must be completed in full. Allocation is made based on the Art Promotion Act § 4, whereby professional selection criteria regarding artistic quality, degree of innovation, and sustainability of the project are applied. Interested associations and artists are encouraged to carefully observe the formal requirements to make the financing and implementation of their media art projects plannable.
