With the support of the funding, fossil energy systems in existing buildings or in combination with new constructions are to be completely replaced by installing cross-building heat networks (anergy networks) in conjunction with geothermal or groundwater heat pumps, and all fossil heat and cooking gas supplies are to be decommissioned.

Description
The City of Vienna promotes the transition to sustainable heat supply in the capital with the program District Heating Networks Combined with Heat Pumps as Part of a Heating System Conversion from 2 Buildings Onwards. These direct grants support private households, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public institutions in converting at least two residential buildings to cross-building heating networks (anergetic networks) combined with geothermal or groundwater heat pumps. Applications can be submitted during the funding period 01.10.2024 to 31.12.2025. This measure is part of Vienna’s energy-efficient and climate-friendly strategy to completely phase out fossil energy systems in the existing building stock and in combination with new constructions.
With the funding objective of fully replacing fossil heating and cooking gas supplies, the goal is to install efficient cross-building heating networks and decommission all fossil energy systems. A prerequisite for funding is the supply of at least two buildings via a heat pump-based network solution as well as the complete decommissioning of all fossil heating and cooking gas supplies. For the application, a fully completed online application form and all other required documents must be submitted. The funding draws from a total budget of 1.2 million euros and makes a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Vienna’s building sector.
