Description
The Marius Eriksen Foundation is committed in Lower Saxony with its program "Forest and Climate Protection (Reforestation Instead of Giving Up)" to the reforestation of unused areas and the strengthening of natural habitats. Funding is provided to educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations, as well as private individuals who wish to contribute to CO₂ neutralization. For each tree planted, the foundation grants a subsidy of €5, which covers planting work, material costs for protective devices, and maintenance expenses during the first years. To be eligible for funding, the project must take place in Oldenburg or the surrounding area and either provide a suitable area or demonstrate active participation in planting activities. Selection criteria include engagement in planting actions, the sustainable orientation of the project, and the provision of land.
The continuously open funding offer promises a collaborative partnership between participants and the foundation to achieve long-term healthy forest stands and more effective CO₂ sequestration. Schools and social initiatives have the opportunity, for example within the framework of project weeks, to establish "class trees" through active planting. Through the combination of financial support and voluntary guidance, both ecological and educational objectives are pursued. The initiative emphasizes that every single tree already makes a valuable contribution to climate protection while simultaneously creating new habitats for flora and fauna. Applications can be submitted at any time, enabling flexible and needs-based implementation of reforestation projects.
