Description

The Watermill Center Summer Workshops program offers young artists and students from Germany and Europe the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary impulses within the framework of a four-week intensive workshop. In the fields of directing, set design, costume, acting, performance, video, lighting design, and architecture, participants encounter an international network of creatives and experts. The aim of the funding is to further develop individual artistic practices through exchange and collaboration and, through the renowned Robert Wilson Foundation for the Promotion of Art, Culture, and Education, to provide access to an inspiring environment on Long Island, NY.

The funding is provided as sponsorship, with applications for the 2026 program possible from October 1, 2025. Participation requires verifiable qualifications in an artistic discipline as well as residence in Germany or another EU country. Selection is made by an expert committee chaired by Robert Wilson. Interested individuals submit their application as individuals and request detailed information about the process and required documents via email. The scholarship covers four months of planning and implementation, during which the fellows benefit not only from the workshops but also from the opportunity to work in a creative laboratory environment with established and emerging artists.
