Description
The funding program "Space and Aviation Technologies" in the Vienna region aims to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for space and aviation that advance the green and digital transformation of society and the economy. Companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with a registered office or branch in Austria can apply for grants for research, technology and product development, demonstration projects, as well as capacity building. The focus includes, among others, satellite-based applications, climate-friendly propulsion systems and fuels, modular cockpit systems, new materials and manufacturing technologies, as well as automated and digital solutions for air traffic control and infrastructure. Through targeted demonstration projects and the development of highly qualified personnel and researcher capacities, participation in the European Space Agency (ESA) program and the commercialization of "made in Austria" technologies in global markets are strengthened.
Prerequisites for funding include, among others, a business establishment or branch in Austria at the time of disbursement, financial security of the project through a detailed cost, schedule, and financing plan, as well as economic viability without ongoing insolvency proceedings. Consortium projects are possible provided that at least one partner is based in Austria and the benefit of foreign partners for the overall project is demonstrated. Applications can be submitted from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026. With a planned budget of 60 million euros, the program supports the competitiveness of domestic actors and contributes to achieving national climate, energy, and environmental goals.
