Competition "30 m³ Building Culture – Make Something of It!"

The Federal Foundation for Building Culture invites interdisciplinary teams of young designers from across Germany to develop creative concepts for structural interventions in public spaces. In the competition, ten selected project ideas will be awarded and honored with an implementation grant of €2,500 each. The awarded designs will be realized as part of the Building Culture Convention on June 10 and 11, 2026, at the Kulturquartier Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam, providing an inspiring platform to showcase innovative approaches in urban planning, heritage conservation, and temporary architecture.

Eligible to participate are private individuals who submit a project idea as a team and present it through a description and design sketches. An interdisciplinary jury evaluates the submissions based on their level of innovation and feasibility within the framework of the convention. The project start is scheduled for June 10, 2026, with setup, exhibition, and dismantling taking place during the event period. This award is particularly aimed at designers who wish to introduce sustainable and experimental impulses for the built environment and offers a unique opportunity to connect theory and practice as well as actively engage the public.
