Description
The regional STEM competition “Creative Minds” in Baden-Württemberg is aimed at students of secondary schools aged 13 to 19 from the regions of Bad Mergentheim, Tauberbischofsheim, Wertheim, and Neckarsulm. Designed as an award ceremony, the competition encourages young talents to develop their own ideas in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology, and to transform them into functional prototypes within three months together with experts from companies. An independent jury evaluates the submissions based on creativity, resource efficiency, technical implementation, market viability, and presentation quality. Individual or team applications are submitted via a short description form and open at the beginning of the school year. The Young Creative Minds Foundation specifically promotes interdisciplinary learning processes and provides valuable insights into research, development, and industrial practice.
After selection, participants undergo a structured program: from the kick-off meeting with partner companies through continuous coaching to the final presentation before the jury. Working materials and technical equipment are provided by regional companies, while mentors offer professional support. Finalists present their project results at a ceremonial award event, where not only attractive prizes but also networking opportunities with potential sponsors await. The submitted ideas remain the property of the students, thereby preserving their freedom to innovate. This practice-oriented competition fosters the inventive spirit of young people in the long term and strengthens both creativity and sustainable thinking in the STEM field.
