Description
The nationwide competition series organized by the Wüstenrot Foundation has been honoring outstanding contributions in the fields of housing, planning, and construction every two years since 1994. Each round focuses on changing themes that link theory and practice and provide impulses for forward-looking urban concepts. An interdisciplinary jury evaluates projects based on their level of innovation, architectural quality, and sustainability aspects. The awarded selection is presented in a traveling exhibition available for free loan, making the diverse solution approaches accessible to a broad audience and stimulating professional discussions.
Eligible to participate are architectural and planning firms, developers, research institutions, as well as individuals submitting projects in accordance with the current competition guidelines. Particularly sought are initiatives in the areas of urban development & urban renewal, residential construction & modernization, building and monument preservation, as well as cultural and media architecture. Application documents and deadlines are available on the official competition website. The goal is to showcase exemplary concepts that create high-quality living environments through intelligent reduction of space, materials, and technology. Through the announcement and presentation, the Foundation makes a significant contribution to the debate on the sustainable design of urban and living spaces.
