Vienna Nursing Training Bonus

The Vienna Nursing Training Bonus has been supporting training in nursing assistance, nursing specialist assistance, health and nursing care, as well as social care professions at recognized institutions in Vienna since January 1, 2025, with a monthly subsidy of 658.40 euros (as of 2026). With this initiative, the City of Vienna provides important financial incentives to make career entry into health and social professions more attractive and to counteract a shortage of skilled workers. The funding period extends until December 31, 2026, with retroactive payments possible for up to three months, and the bonus is always paid out retrospectively.

Funding is granted to private individuals who are undergoing a state-recognized training program at an institution based in Vienna and who do not receive benefits or funding from the Public Employment Service (AMS). A prerequisite is active participation in the training as well as exclusion from AMS benefits. The application can be submitted online from the start of the training and requires the following documents: a completed online application, the signed “Consent and Confirmation,” a current school attendance or enrollment certificate, a current registration certificate (not older than four weeks), and a valid official photo ID. The Vienna Employees Promotion Fund (waff) handles the processing, which may take up to two months due to coordination with the training institutions. This way, professional qualification in the health and social sector in Vienna is supported directly and unbureaucratically.
