Description

The Winter Foundation for the Rights of Nature supports non-profit organizations in Germany with financial grants for the advancement and enforcement of environmental law in the interest of protecting nature and its manifestations. Funding is provided particularly for research and publication projects with a legal science focus, legally grounded media contributions, as well as environmental law events such as conferences, colloquia, or symposia. Support is project-based or structural and can be granted either as a one-time or long-term measure. Applications can be submitted continuously and offer flexibly applicable grants to cover material and personnel costs.

Three central criteria guide the selection of funded projects: the advancement of environmental law, the scientific quality, and the relevance for nature conservation. In addition to financial support for research, publications, and events, the foundation honors outstanding scientific works as well as legally grounded media contributions. Additional funding lines are available for scholarships or empirical studies. The application procedure is informal and exclusively targets tax-privileged associations and initiatives that wish to implement or have environmental law projects recognized. Interested parties can find further information on funding conditions on the foundation’s website.
