Description

We for Saxony is a funding program that can be utilized by non-profit organizations and public institutions to strengthen and further develop voluntary engagement in the Free State of Saxony. Through the Dresden Citizens' Foundation, monthly expense allowances are granted to volunteers who are active for at least 20 hours per month in various projects – whether in the social sector, environmental and nature conservation, culture, sports, or educational work. The program's goal is to recognize civic engagement and support its continuous development. The funding enables project sponsors to cover costs such as travel expenses, material costs, or office supplies, thereby reducing the financial burden of volunteering.

The funding is provided as a grant ranging from 35 to 45 euros per month for each actively engaged person. The basis for funding includes, among other criteria, compliance with the minimum hours and residence or habitual abode in the Free State of Saxony. Additionally, care is taken to ensure that no double funding occurs for the same purpose. Project sponsors, which include associations of independent welfare organizations, church communities, foundations, and clubs, submit their applications exclusively online via the funding portal. Among other requirements, a completed application form and proof of use must be submitted to transparently demonstrate the appropriate use of the funds.

This funding program highlights the importance of volunteer work on a broad societal level and enables financial relief for the committed participants. By flat-rate coverage of necessary expenses, the program not only promotes social participation but also helps to sustainably secure the interdisciplinary nature of volunteering. The digital application process and clearly defined funding requirements facilitate the application and administration of funds, allowing project sponsors to optimally focus their resources on their public welfare mission. This funding thus makes an important contribution to strengthening social cohesion in Saxony.
