The aim of the funding is to make regionally significant and internationally connected research results more visible and to provide due recognition to local achievements in the field of research & innovation. Due to continuous awarding, applications are open at any time, allowing innovative projects to be supported flexibly and without fixed deadline cycles. Responsibility lies with the Office of the Styrian State Government, Department 12 Economy, Tourism, Science and Research, which implements the funding guidelines according to individual resolutions and continuously develops them further.
Eligible participants are individuals who either already publish established scientific works or, as early-career researchers, wish to take the step into the professional public. The central funding focus is the publication of monographs, scholarly articles, or contributions to edited volumes that make a substantial contribution to national and international research. A key prerequisite is the submission of texts that link local research findings with global relevance, thereby strengthening Styria as a scientific location. Current submission deadlines are available on the official website of the Styrian Research Promotion, with applications being processed continuously and decisions made by expert juries following content review.
