Description
Science Communication Program: This nationwide funding initiative of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) supports scientists at Austrian research institutions in bringing FWF-funded projects closer to a broad audience through creative communication measures. Outstanding concepts and formats from the fields of science, media, research & innovation, as well as culture & media, are funded, aiming to make research results understandable and tangible and to strengthen public trust in science. As a grant with a funding rate of 100%, up to €100,000 are available for each project, which can be used over a maximum of 24 months. Applications can be submitted from 01.03.2024 until 30.05.2099.
Eligible to participate are project leaders or staff involved in an ongoing or at most three years past FWF basic project, who possess appropriate expertise in science communication and implement their extension project at a suitable Austrian research institution with the necessary infrastructure. The decision is made annually in October by the FWF Board of Trustees based on international reviews. An electronic application is submitted via the FWF portal “elane.” Accompanying documents such as application guidelines, checklists, or definitions of terms assist with preparation. This funding initiative is aimed at all those who wish to effectively convey scientific content and further advance the dialogue between research and society.
