Description
The funding program Living and Care in Old Age in Lower Saxony awards non-repayable grants for exemplary housing and neighborhood projects that enable elderly and care-dependent individuals to live largely independently in their home environment. Both capital-intensive new construction and renovation measures, including technical equipment, as well as non-capital initiatives such as binding neighborhood initiatives, outpatient supervised care communities, neighborhood-related support networks, and care infrastructures are funded. The state funding covers up to 50% of eligible expenses and amounts to a maximum of €100,000. Applications can be submitted by August 1 each year to begin implementation in the following year.
Eligible applicants are natural and legal persons, companies, and public institutions that realize their project in Lower Saxony. A prerequisite for approval is a meaningful project description with a model character, a schedule, and conceptual integration into the social environment, as well as a statement from the local municipality. Eligible expenses include construction costs for new builds and renovations, technical equipment, and material or personnel costs for non-capital measures. In the application evaluation, the model character of the project, integration into the social environment, and the specification of measurable success control parameters play a decisive role.
