Housing for the Poor (BISS Foundation)

The BISS Foundation is dedicated in Bavaria to creating affordable housing options for socially disadvantaged individuals. Through the program "Housing for the Poor," suitable one- and two-room apartments as well as occupancy rights in housing cooperatives are acquired. As a grant, the foundation supports the purchase of small properties that are socially and pedagogically supervised by professionals and volunteers. The goal is not only to provide accommodation for formerly homeless persons but above all to ensure their lasting integration into society. The foundation assumes ownership, while BISS e. V. organizes the personal support of tenants to enable sustainable participation in community and working life.

The funding is aimed at people without their own housing or with insufficient financial means who rely on support due to their precarious life situation. Private applicants can continuously apply for grant offers, provided social need is demonstrated. The program is distinguished by its flexibility: donations, gifts, or market-standard purchase offers supplement the foundation’s assets and increase the availability of small apartments. Through the close integration of property acquisition, professional support, and volunteer engagement, a sustainable support network is created. In doing so, the BISS Foundation makes an important contribution to homelessness assistance, social integration, and the strengthening of social cohesion.
