Description

The Women Artists in Residence – Scholarship of the Cordts Art Foundation offers artists with completed studies or training in the fields of painting, sculpture, installation, music, dance, and literature the opportunity to live and work free of charge for three to ten months on the exclusive island of Schwanenwerder in Berlin. The modernized studio spaces in a house built in 1935 provide generous work areas, a conservatory, and an impressive view of the Havel River. Additionally, scholarship holders receive a BVG monthly ticket and a bicycle to ensure convenient access to the capital. The goal is to promote artistic innovation and to present the participants' work to a broad audience through a concluding exhibition, reading, or concert.

Interested artists submit a CV, an artistic profile including publications and exhibitions, work samples from the last three years, as well as a letter of motivation. The quality of the works, the potential for innovation, and the completeness of the documents are evaluated. The foundation’s board decides on the award without age restrictions, excluding graphic and applied arts. The application deadline is November 30, 2027 for the 2029/2030 scholarship. This funding opportunity supports professionally trained artists in breaking away from their usual environment, expanding artistic networks, and gaining new impulses for their work.
