Description

The Wulf Vater Foundation honors outstanding scientific achievements in the field of receptor research and ion channel research. Since its establishment in 1996, it has aimed to promote basic research on the effects of dihydropyridines and their therapeutic applications. The award recognizes industry-independent individuals or research groups throughout the German-speaking region who have made decisive contributions to the understanding of cellular signaling mechanisms in the past five years. By acknowledging exceptional research results, the award strengthens scientific excellence and encourages the further development of innovative concepts in pharmacology.

Eligible to participate are scientists and research teams working without industrial affiliation whose projects demonstrate significant therapeutic relevance. Selection is based on clearly defined criteria: outstanding scientific quality, importance for understanding cellular signaling processes, and potential benefit for new therapeutic approaches. An independent panel of experts continuously evaluates submissions, allowing applications to be submitted at any time. The funding provides a valuable platform to present groundbreaking research findings to a broad professional audience and to generate long-term impetus for the development of new active substances.
