Description

The Wulf Vater Dihydropyridine Research Award honors outstanding scientific achievements in receptor and ion channel research and strengthens both basic and applied research on dihydropyridines in the German-speaking region. Endowed by the Wulf Vater Foundation at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the award recognizes contributions that deepen the understanding of cellular signaling mechanisms and highlight their therapeutic relevance. The focus lies equally on innovation and originality as well as the practical significance of the results for health and medicine.

Prize recipients are independent individuals or research groups from industry who have made significant contributions in the past five years to the study of cellular signaling pathways and their therapeutic approaches. An independent jury evaluates submissions based on three key criteria: the innovation potential of the approaches, the contribution to understanding the underlying mechanisms, and therapeutic relevance. The award is aimed at scientists and researchers from Germany and Austria working at universities as well as research institutions. Through the continuous granting of this award, forward-looking projects are to be promoted, collaborations strengthened, and the visibility of dihydropyridine research sustainably increased.
