Description

The program [’You:sful] – Learning through Engagement of the BürgerStiftung Hamburg offers educational institutions in the city the opportunity to link curriculum content with practical civic engagement. Students from all school types have the chance to deepen their understanding of societal issues such as local politics, climate change, species protection, or social questions through active projects in their neighborhoods. The goal is to strengthen democratic understanding and civil society experience as well as to promote social and methodological skills. In doing so, the BürgerStiftung Hamburg provides free consultation, training, networking opportunities, and professional exchanges to support teachers in the conception, planning, and implementation of engagement projects within the framework of the service-learning approach.

Educational institutions based in Hamburg can apply for participation at any time and informally. A prerequisite is the willingness to systematically integrate engagement projects into the curriculum and actively involve students. Through continuous involvement in thematic and professional exchanges, schools benefit from a growing network and gain access to materials, workshops, and reflection events. With over 1,500 children and young people engaged annually, [’You:sful] makes a sustainable contribution to promoting social cohesion and democratic educational processes in Hamburg. Schools interested in the long-term implementation of this innovative teaching and learning method can always find support and inspiration at the BürgerStiftung Hamburg.
