Description

The certification "hochschuleundfamilie" directly promotes innovative measures for family-oriented higher education policies at educational institutions in Vienna. Universities, universities of applied sciences, and teacher training colleges receive a grant to develop and implement pioneering concepts for the compatibility of family, studies, and career. The process is characterized by a continuous submission possibility, allowing project teams to respond flexibly and promptly to current needs. The funding supports, for example, pilot programs for childcare, family-friendly working time models, or digital advisory services for study and administrative processes. Through financial relief, universities can involve experts and practice partners to establish sustainable and needs-oriented higher education policies.

The overarching goal is the sustainable facilitation of balancing study, research, and family responsibilities. Eligible are public universities according to the University Act 2002, universities of applied sciences under the University of Applied Sciences Studies Act (excluding institutions affiliated with the federal states), as well as public and private teacher training colleges according to the Higher Education Act 2005. Applications are accepted continuously, enabling initiatives to be certified easily and promptly. Through the official recognition of the quality seal, best-practice initiatives become visible and incentives are created to further develop campus life in a family-friendly manner. This allows educational institutions to strengthen their attractiveness as employers and learning environments for students in the long term.
