Description

The Claussen-Simon Foundation enables young students from Hamburg district schools in the 9th grade to undertake a several-week stay abroad in Europe through its international scholarship. In cooperation with Experiment e.V. and the Authority for Schools, Family, and Vocational Training, participants can live with host families for four to six weeks and attend regular school lessons on site. The program aims to sustainably strengthen language skills and promote intercultural experiences. Comprehensive support by Experiment e.V. in the host country, as well as intensive preparatory and follow-up seminars, ensure that academic continuity is maintained during and after the stay abroad.

The funding amount covers all costs for travel, accommodation, meals, and school attendance minus a personal contribution of 100 euros. Expenses for personal needs are not eligible. Requirements for a successful application include proof of current school attendance at a Hamburg district school, willingness to make up missed lessons, and submission of a teacher’s recommendation via the online portal at the beginning of the year. Selection takes place once annually, and funded stays can commence from September 1, 2025. The program is aimed at motivated students who wish to practically experience personal development and social tolerance in an international environment.
