Grants from the State of Tyrol for the Costs of Student Transportation

The program provides municipalities and municipal associations in the state of Tyrol with financial support to ensure student transportation in cases where the school route would be unreasonable without public or occasional transport services. Public institutions as cost bearers benefit from annual subsidies that promote the mobility of school-age children and cushion the increase in transportation costs. The amount of funding is based on the financial capacity of the applying municipality or the municipalities involved in a municipal association. This secures those routes that lie outside existing transport connections and, in particular, ensure essential access to educational institutions in rural areas.

A prerequisite for funding is that the transportation is organized independently by the municipalities or municipal associations and that there is a difference between the actual costs incurred and the amounts reimbursed by the federal government. Furthermore, the school route must be classified as unreasonable without the use of public or occasional transport services. Eligible expenses include exclusively the difference costs of student transportation (actual costs minus federal reimbursement). Applications must be submitted after the end of the respective school year and no later than November 30 of the same calendar year to the Tyrolean state government. Municipalities and municipal associations are encouraged to submit all required documentation on time to ensure prompt disbursement of the subsidies.
