Description

The grant supports the sustainable development of cattle breeding in Lower Austria, Styria, and Vienna by promoting the acquisition of up to two high-quality female breeding cattle per farm and year, each with €280. It is aimed at natural and legal persons as well as companies that independently manage an agricultural enterprise with cattle husbandry. The goal is to ensure the preservation and quality improvement of regional cattle breeds such as Fleckvieh, Black-and-White/Holstein Friesian, Brown Swiss, and Yellow cattle, thereby strengthening traditional peasant farming. The funding is offered continuously and applies from the date of purchase of the animals.

A prerequisite for a successful application is the purchase through recognized marketing events in Lower Austria or via direct farm sales of the Lower Austrian breeding associations. The subsidized animals must remain on the farm for at least twelve months and meet certain evaluation classes. Compliance with EU Regulation No. 2019/316 (agricultural de minimis) is also required. Applications can be submitted electronically continuously up to six weeks after the respective auction. To apply, a declaration of commitment as well as a statement of de minimis aid granted in the last three tax years must be provided. This attractive funding makes a significant contribution to improving herd health and securing peasant farms in the region in the long term.
