Description
The “Grants to Animal Welfare Institutions” in Tyrol provide non-profit organizations with comprehensive subsidies to ensure the ongoing operation of animal shelters. Funding is provided, among other things, for veterinary costs, feed expenses, and care for lost, abandoned, neglected, or officially confiscated animals. In addition, investment grants are available for the construction and maintenance of animal welfare facilities. Beyond practical care, awareness-raising in animal welfare is also supported, for example through “Pet Buddy” courses and informational offerings for educational institutions. The goal of all these measures is to protect the life and well-being of animals as well as to strengthen public understanding of species-appropriate animal husbandry.
A prerequisite for funding is the establishment or operation of a recognized animal welfare facility in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act (Federal Law Gazette I No. 118/2004) under expert management. Additionally, measures for sensitization and education in the field of animal welfare must be implemented. To apply, a detailed project description or project outline as well as an informal funding request outlining the financial requirements must be submitted. Funding applications can be submitted continuously; approval and disbursement take place quarterly. This continuous support structure ensures that animal shelters in Tyrol are sustainably and adequately funded to guarantee the long-term welfare of the animals.
