Description

The funding program "Grants for Voluntary All-Day Schools (FGTS Guidelines)" of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MBK) in Saarland supports school authorities, providers of public and independent youth welfare, as well as suitable legal entities in establishing and maintaining high-quality all-day offerings at general education schools and special needs schools. The goal is to improve the compatibility of family and work, strengthen educational care structures, and ensure the personalization of the offerings. Funded are educational and care measures for groups of at least ten participants (five for special needs schools), which interlink learning times, leisure modules, and extracurricular projects within a reliable framework. The funding period covers 12 months each and is aligned with the school year cycle.

Applicants must submit a complete application to the responsible school supervisory authority by April 15 of each year. This must include a financing plan according to the template specification and a pedagogical concept as a conceptual planning instrument. Eligible expenses include, among others, personnel costs for educational staff, an overhead flat rate of up to 10% of personnel costs, fees for projects with external partners, as well as material and supply costs. Non-fundable items include premises, midday meals, student transportation costs, or debt repayment. Up to €38,000 can be approved per group and school year; additionally, each long-term offering receives up to €1,000 for extracurricular projects. Selection is based on the completeness and quality of the pedagogical concept, compliance with the guidelines, and a differentiated needs assessment.
