Grants in the Field of Animal Welfare

The grant guideline "Grants in the Field of Animal Welfare" supports non-profit animal welfare associations in the Free State of Saxony in investment and other projects aimed at improving the reception, accommodation, and care of companion animals and, in individual cases, livestock. Eligible applicants are associations active both in the funding priorities of infrastructure and in the thematic areas of urban development & urban renewal, contributing to the enhancement of animal welfare through structural modifications or operating costs. The program offers ongoing funding opportunities for new construction, expansion and conversion, renovations, modernizations, as well as the expansion of quarantine facilities. Additionally, material costs such as operating expenses, animal transport, procurement of animal supplies and feed, as well as training courses, can be claimed.

The funding rate varies depending on the measure between 30% and 90%. Investment projects are subsidized up to 90%, while personnel expenses and general material costs are funded up to 30% of eligible costs (max. EUR 5,800 per association per year). For zoonosis vaccinations, castrations, equipment procurement, and veterinary fees, the rate also rises up to 90%. Investment applications must be submitted by March 15 of a calendar year; applications for personnel expenses and material costs can be submitted at any time. For approval, the application for granting a subsidy, the annex to the proof of use with invoice overview, a payment request, as well as a (preliminary) proof of use are required. The Saxony State Directorate processes the funding procedures on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion and ensures the review and disbursement of the grants.
