Description

The funding program "Grants within the framework of the management of protected areas" of the state of Schleswig-Holstein provides a non-repayable subsidy of up to 90% of eligible expenses. It supports the voluntary professional management of nature reserves, biosphere reserves, Natura 2000 sites, and areas within the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. Central tasks include the recording and documentation of conservation objects, the development of protection, maintenance, and development measures, as well as public information and annual reporting. Applicants – including nature conservation associations, organizations, as well as natural and legal persons – thus contribute sustainably to the preservation and sustainable development of these sensitive habitats.

Prerequisites for funding include the timely completion of official approval procedures, coordination with landowners and the responsible lower nature conservation authority, as well as the punctual submission of proof of use and management reports. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, travel and transportation expenses, rents, leases, equipment, informational materials, flat-rate business expenses, contracts for work and services, expert reports, as well as simple protected area huts and movable accommodations. Services that have already been subsidized elsewhere or are to be assumed by third parties due to legal obligations are not funded. Applications can be submitted until September 30 of a calendar year; applications submitted by March 1 are given priority processing.
