About the funder
The Aloys Wobben Foundation is a non-profit family foundation founded in 2012 by Dr. Aloys Wobben, who transferred his assets to the foundation and withdrew from the operational business of ENERCON. As the sole shareholder of ENERCON, the foundation ensures the independence and long-term future of the life’s work of Dr. Aloys Wobben, who is recognized worldwide as a pioneer of wind energy. Since the founder’s death in 2021, the foundation has especially supported research and education in the energy sector, social and humanitarian causes, facilities for children, as well as cultural projects.

Mission & Vision
Based on the conviction of the founder Dr. Aloys Wobben that science and technology alone have no value, the Aloys Wobben Foundation places the universal value of preserving creation and an ethical responsibility at the center of its actions. In line with ENERCON's founding mission, it works to responsibly advance technological innovations and continually reflect on their benefits for society and the environment.
Target groups
The Aloys Wobben Foundation targets non-profit organizations, research institutions, and individuals implementing projects in the fields of research and education in the energy sector, social and humanitarian causes, child development, as well as culture. Applications are possible provided they align with the funding priorities set out in the award guidelines.
